This is a series of videos of several venues in the city. They deal with notions of self-organization, biopower, space, anonymous multitudes, the unconscious concrete, the invisible city and people entangling with physical and bureaucratic regulation. There is the subtleness of regulation, the thriving of life, its compartmentalization, the sense of Being (at home and living Here) with the quest to Become. They are snaps of unplanned planning, between the planned and chaotic – forms of lived urban phenomena in Karachi. The camera zooms from above. The image is of forever being tangled in a lover's curls ( Zulf زلف : Persian ).

Mauj met Kathrin Becker for lunch on 15th October.

Kathrin Becker, is a Berlin based curator and work currently as the head of the n.b.k. Video-Forum. The Video-Forum was establisehd in 1971 and is the eldest video collection in Germany . It has ca. 1000 works of international video artists from the early years of video art in the late 1960s to the present. (www.nbk...org)

It was a wonderful meeting, she has a great sense of humour and we enjoyed talking to her about our work, her experience with archiving the nbk video collection and other fun things

The Tashkent Biennale opening is tomorrow and the week's programme has
a trip to Samarkand.
The opening has official status with the President Karimov and his
daughter taking interest.
Its part of a series of international cultural events they are having.

"Hanging Fire: Contemporary Art from Pakistan," at Asia Society (Sept. 2009-Jan. 2010) is billed as the first major U.S. museum survey of contemporary art from Pakistan.

Early this morning, nearly a million New Yorkers were stunned by the appearance of a "special edition" New York Post blaring headlines that their city could face deadly heat waves, extreme flooding, and other lethal effects of global warming within the next few decades. The most alarming thing about it: the news came from an official City report. "WE'RE SCREWED".
